Andrew Font

Individual & Couple Psychotherapist

I am a psychotherapist, supporting individuals and couples with a range of difficulties. I work in a London NHS mental health service and operate a small private practice.

Alongside my clinical practice, I am also a Clinical Tutor on the Postgraduate Certificate course in Low-Intensity CBT Interventions at University College London (UCL).

I strive to be an inclusive therapist and particularly welcome individuals or couples from ethnically diverse backgrounds or who belong to the LGBTQIA+ community. If you are living with a disability or impairment, or if you are neurodivergent, please contact me, to discuss how we might be able to make our sessions more accessible.

About my work

Individual psychotherapy
Couples & relationship therapy

Individual sessions will focus on the particular difficulty relevant to you. Some common difficulties include depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, significant life events or transitions, trauma and interpersonal difficulties.

Sometimes, people want support with particular clinical presentations, such as obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), personality disorders, eating disorders, social anxiety, specific phobias and health anxiety.

My core training is integrative, which means that I am trained in several therapeutic approaches and I draw upon those most relevant to you and your particular difficulty. The ethos of my practice is one of inclusivity, openness and respect. My practice draws on systemic, psychodynamic, cognitive-behavioural and attachment-based frameworks.

Currently, I am operating a small private practice, online only. I also offer an optional, initial, no-commitment, 15-minute telephone consultation, for you to ask any questions and for us both to decide if we think we would be a good fit for each other. Please contact me to discuss this. If we do not believe I am the best person to support you, I will try to refer you on to a more appropriate person or service.

In my relationship therapy, I use Integrative Systemic Therapy. Together, we will formulate some joint goals, and distil together the particular problematic patterns undermining your relationship. We will then try to make adaptive changes to these patterns and overcome any constraints, all while taking a compassionate and empathic approach to one another. Some common relationship difficulties people bring include miscommunication, drifting apart, regular arguments, lack of intimacy, infidelity and broken trust.

In my practice, I value and celebrate all relationship paradigms, whether you are in a male-female couple with traditional gender roles, a same-sex relationship, a relationship outside of binary norms, a polyamorous relationship or another type of relationship entirely.
